We don’t do volunteer-tourism trips. We do skilled-volunteer placements where the work would otherwise need to be paid for. If that fits, we’d love to hear from you.
Skilled volunteer roles
Field engineer (4–6 weeks)
For licensed civil engineers and hydrogeologists. Embed with a partner cooperative on a specific drilling project. Travel covered; no stipend.
Apply→Pro-bono legal counsel (ongoing)
We’re always under-resourced on cross-border legal advice. International tax, contract review, IP. Two days a quarter.
Apply→Local fundraising committee
Run a city-level fundraising committee. NYC, London, Toronto, Sydney are most active. ~5 hours/month.
Apply→Board / advisory roles
Board terms 3 years, ~20 hours/month. Advisory committees lighter (5 hours/month). Both unpaid; expense-reimbursed.
Apply→Translator (Tigrinya, Amharic, Hindi, Swahili)
We translate stories, reports, and donor materials regularly. Native fluency required. Roughly 4 hours/month, paid in honoraria.

We’re always looking for documentary photographers willing to travel on assignment. Travel + per-diem covered, no fee.

Voluntourism
We don’t organise short trips for unskilled volunteers to “help out”. The arithmetic doesn’t work for the communities we serve.
Photo-with-children setups
Beneficiary safeguarding is non-negotiable. We don’t arrange photo opportunities or short visits to project sites unless they serve a specific operational purpose.
Skill mismatches
If your skill doesn’t directly substitute for paid expertise we’d need to hire, we’ll tell you so up front and recommend a financial gift instead.
